Hane

The hane

The moment was inevitable—my ultra-thin-body Jazz Guitar was destined to gain a sibling. And now it has emerged from wood, fire, and intention: The Hane Bass.

Carved from a single piece of solid oak, its body behaves like a living soundboard—whisper-thin at the center, swelling toward the edges for strength, stability, and a resonance that feels almost organic. Its voice is shaped not only by form, but by contrast: a Spanish cedar neck, reinforced with a titanium truss rod and carbon-fiber tubes, leads into a fingerboard and bridge of pale moon ebony—wood streaked with light like a quiet dawn.

The expanded electronics cavity opened the door to a rare pairing: a passive piezo system breathing warmth and air into every note, intertwined with a Hathor custom magnetic neck pickup. Both worlds meet through a stereo/mono circuit, guided by a discreet micro-toggle—small in size, vast in possibility.

To finish the creation, the body was treated with shou sugi ban, its charred textures glowing beneath gold accents, forming a continuous dialogue with the pale moon ebony. The result is an instrument that feels ancient and modern at once—burned, polished, and brought to life.

More of this story will unfold soon—because some instruments do not simply appear; they reveal themselves, layer by layer.
